Official Establishment
After several years of successful philanthropic events, OTF was officially established as a national non-profit organization on February 16, 2006, in Washington, D.C.
Founding Vision: The Birth of an Idea
Best friends Angela Allen and Sherice Brown traveled to Super Bowls year after year with Sherice’s husband Tim. While the Super Bowl offered packed schedules for players, the women found few spaces that celebrated or centered them. Over lunch, they decided to take action—dreaming up an event that would highlight NFL wives, create camaraderie, and allow their husbands to support them “off the field.” From personal closets and couture to laughter and sisterhood, they envisioned a celebration of womanhood and generosity. In 2002, the vision came to life with the inaugural Players’ Wives Fashion Show Brunch & Tea at Super Bowl XXXVI in New Orleans. Celebrity designer Max Nugus dressed the women in his signature styles, many straight from their own wardrobes. That first year, they raised $3,000 for a local after-school nonprofit—proving this idea had staying power. With support from early sponsor-wives like Ashley Brown (Ray), Romonda Jordan (Randy), Kim Wheatley (Tyrone), Angela Garner (Charlie), and Zina McGlockton (Chester), the movement grew. In 2006, the Off the Field Players’ Wives Association was officially chartered. Since then, it has supported over 50 charities and donated over $1 million to causes around the country.
